The 28th Geneva International Film Festival and its 10th Digital Market are fast approaching. Join us by submitting your works or ongoing projects!

GIFF is calling for series, scripts and international digital creations.

SERIES & SCRIPTS

Want to be part of the official series selection of GIFF 2022? Submit your series and series scripts on MyGIFF before August 18,2022! These will be eligible to join the convergent sections or compete in the following two competitions:

  • International Series Competition (CHF 10,000 offered by the City and State of Geneva)
  • European Script Award (EUR 10,000 offered by the European Alliance for Television and Culture [EATC])

INTERNATIONAL SERIES COMPETITION

GIFF 2021

Snow Angels, created by Mette Heeno, Denmark – Winner of the International Series Competition 2021

Exclusive to Switzerland, the International Series Competition brings together the most inventive foreign series, which GIFF has been reporting on for over 25 years. The competition showcases, through ten series’ pilot episodes, the innovative potential of the most popular and dynamic format in the contemporary audiovisual industry. A new inclusive Jury consisting exclusively of five festivalgoers rewards the best series with the Reflet d’Or, worth CHF 10,000 (offered by the City and Canton of Geneva).

EUROPEAN SCRIPT AWARD

GIFF 2021

Pørni, created and written by Henriette Steenstrup, Norway – Winner of the European Script Award 2021

For more than 25 years, GIFF has been paying tribute to the creative power of TV series, a genre that has become unavoidable today. After Berlin and Helsinki, GIFF has been hosting the European Script Award (formerly the Prix Genève) since 2020, which rewards the best script for a European TV series. Three works, selected from among the most original scripts written by up-and-coming authors, are screened at the Festival and submitted to a jury of experts. The best screenwriter of the year will receive an award of EUR 10,000 from the European Alliance for Television and Culture (EATC) at the GIFF Awards Ceremony on  November 12, 2022.  

The European Script Award is open to all European-based TV stations, broadcasters and production companies.

DIGITAL & IMMERSIVE WORKS (VR, AR, MR)

Are you a creator, producer or distributor interested in joining the 2022 selection of the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF)? Submit:

  • Your digital works (interactive, performative, installation, web content) 

and/or 

  • Your immersive works (virtual, augmented and mixed reality) 

The works will be eligible for the International Immersive Works Competition (CHF 10,000 offered by the City and State of Geneva), for the Future Is Sensible Award (CHF 10,000 offered by the City and State of Geneva) and for the convergent sections (out of competition).

INTERNATIONAL IMMERSIVE WORKS COMPETITION

Tearless, created by Gina Kim, South Korea – Winner of the International Immersive Works Competition 2021

A pioneer in the field of new writing and digital innovation, GIFF has been featuring a programme of virtual reality (VR) works since 2014. This section has been competitive since 2016 and brings together immersive XR works from around the world, presented in Swiss, international or world premieres. A Jury consisting of personalities from the audiovisual industry awards a prize of CHF 10,000 donated by the City and State of Geneva.

SWISS INTERACTIVE SESSIONS

Presentation of Swiss digital projects / matchmaking sessions with institutions and distributors

Since 2019 this programme has enabled Swiss digital artists to meet representatives of international institutions and art centers in order to facilitate the distribution of their projects abroad.

XR COPRODUCTION SESSIONS

Presentations of XR projects and immersive technologies / co-production market

Organised since 2019, these sessions enable 20 of the most innovative European project leaders to present their work in progress to European producers. The day is divided into two parts, starting in the morning with pitching sessions and continuing in the afternoon with one-on-one meetings between participants.
