The Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF) hosts three International Competitions: feature films, tv series and immersive works; and seven out of competition sections.

The call for entry for the next edition of the GIFF, which will take place from November 6 to 15, 2020, concerns only the digital and immersive works (see below).

There is no call for submission for short and feature films, tv series, web series and music videos, which are spotted and pre-selected directly by the Festival’s programmers.

Need a registration on our platform:

  • the submitted digital and immersive works (see below)
  • the works selected by the GIFF’s programming team (feature films, tv series, music videos, XR works, digital projects and web formats) after receiving the official selection letter from the Festival.

The short films program, which is a non competitive section, is delegate to Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur since 2018 and will be screened at GIFF.

2019 winner: O by Qiu Yang

Since 2014, the GIFF has presented a program of immersive works with a competitive section since 2016, which includes projects in Swiss, International or World premiere.

Creators, producers and distributors are invited to submit their immersive works (virtual, augmented and mixed reality) for GIFF’s upcoming edition. The submitted works will be considered by Festival’s curators who will select those that will feature in GIFF’s 26th program (6-15 Nov. 2020).

The works will be eligible for the International Immersive Works Competition with a prize worth CHF10,000 offered by the City and the State of Geneva and handed out by a jury consisting of international experts, as well as the Festival’s converging sections (out-of-competition).

This year the GIFF is aiming to showcase augmented reality (AR) in particular and will thus focus more specifically on works that lend themselves to this format.

Submission for immersive works are now open. Deadline: August 28, 2020.

To submit your work, please create an account on our online platform MyGIFF. Select “Registration Forms”, then “Submit an immersive work”.
