Goldberg’s machines: devices that perform a simple task but in a deliberately complex manner. With Mécaniques imaginaires, the Scenocosme duo invites us, with the help of a small software program and a very simple video installation, to become Méliès again in front of a cinematic device.

Inspired by shadow theater, George Méliès’ cinema and Goldberg’s machines, Mécaniques imaginaires is an interactive project that enables the creation of an unlimited number of stories by manipulating in real time numerous video elements. This work offers an infinite space of expression where unlikely and random relationships between people, situations and objects come to life. A playful experience for young and old, that leaves the participants a lot of room for improvisation.
