Both near and far, an urban space unfolds through immersion into the sound environment that composes it. Updating Kairo[s] is a library of sounds collected by Isis Fahmy and Benoît Renaudin during their many stays in Cairo over the last five years – a library enhanced with material recorded by young Egyptian artists residing in the capital. Feet here, ears over there, the experience drives us to rethink the notion of “elsewhere” by offering ephemeral de-territorialization, where space-time becomes fictitious material.
