Faced with the fishing quotas introduced in the 1980s, an Icelandic village will do anything to save its livelihood. This delightful series combines pervasive despair with memorable, zany moments.
Icelandic ports live to the rhythm of the comings and goings of fishing vessels. When in the 1980s the government voted to set up quotas, the entire local economy was threatened. Harpa, the town clerk, fights to save the livelihood of her village. Blackport strikes a balance between a feeling of authenticity directly inherited from social realism and a pinch of madness that'll turn sobs into laughter.
