What happens to TV characters when they go off camera? Valerie Armstrong fulfils a viewer's fantasy and shows Annie's (double) life: as soon as her idiot husband is out of the picture, this cheerful sitcom wife reverts to her depression. A new formal inventiveness (two atmospheres, two ways of filming) and a character who goes from cheap comedy to drama within a single shot.
