SOUVENIRS OF A WAR REPORTER
2001, 89'
VO. French
With
Jacques Roman, Roger Jendly, Viviana Aliberti
In a refugee camp, a journalist discovers the doctor who saved his leg during the Cambodian genocide. The incredible reunion is inspired by Yvan Butler's experiences as a reporter.

Louis, a doctor broken by twenty-five years of humanitarian missions, has his memories painfully reawakened by a reunion with Hugo, a journalist who also witnessed the massacres perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge. The old doctor makes him promise to find his first love, a Cambodian woman he left behind during the conflict. Hugo vows to keep his promise – whatever the cost. In this TV film co-written with the distinguished reporter Michel Croce-Spinelli, Yvan Butler examines the Rwandan and Cambodian genocides, two tragedies that represent defining moments in his career as a reporter. Made in the style of a journalistic report, this film examines the absurdity of war, with the addition of minor fictionalized elements.
