Cathleen Roulaud took inspiration from her own life for this work. Like her character, the screenwriter and lead of About Antoine had experienced being the outsider in a blended family, finding herself in the role of "second mom" to Antoine, who plays himself. With extraordinary tenderness, this comedy drama tells the story of Julie's gradual adjustment to her new environment – a process filled with anxiety, doubt and missteps as well as emotion, affection and warmth. What makes About Antoine so memorable is the optimistic tone it adopts, without ever succumbing to sickly-sweet sentimentality. Instead it offers an intelligent and moving premise for what could easily become your next favorite feelgood series.
