In presence of Marguerite Kudelski, Saturday November 4.
A presidential candidate loses his life when his car plunges into a river. The police declare it an accident, but a sound technician, armed with a recording, tries to prove otherwise.
One night, Jack goes out hunting, armed with his Nagra: he's a sound engineer production company of somewhat dubious films, and their upcoming project requires some new sound effects: the wind in the trees, a couple passing by, a toad in search of a mate, a lonely owl... Suddenly, a heavy thud, the screech of tires and a fatal drop: with this simple recording, Jack (played by John Travolta) attempts to expose the truth, in spite of the threats coming from the petty worlds of politics and crime in Philadelphia. Inspired by the Chappaquiddick incident, De Palma reveals the tricks and secrets of film sound editing in this B-movie style drama.
