In presence of Arnaud des Pallières, Tuesday November 7.
1894. A young woman searching for her mother voluntarily admits herself to the Salpêtrière Hospital. In Dr. Charcot's department, preparations are underway to welcome the Tout-Paris for the Mid-Lent Ball.
It is the late 19th century. At the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, we are under the supervision of Dr. Charcot, widely known as the greatest neurologist of his time. He treats multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and hysteria, for which he uses hypnosis and photography. The "asylum" department houses women classed either as insubordinate, mad or prostitutes. Among them is a woman who has admitted herself voluntarily in order to track down her mother. Surrounded by her damaged "sisters" who populate the institution, she is introduced to violence. As every year, preparations are under way for the "Party of Fools", which will welcome the cream of Parisian society. 150 patients have been selected to attend. A hard-hitting historical drama co-written with Christelle Berthevas. The score is by Martin Wheeler.
