Les Espaces d’Abraxas, in the Paris region, is a huge neo-classical-inspired building complex designed in the early 1980s. The building, with more than 600 apartments, is regularly used as a set for film productions where its inhabitants are almost always invisible. Sebastian Vargas’ project gives a new voice to those who live in these spaces, who use and wear them out – thus taking a subtle and precise look at the architectural utopia of suburbs and the politics of image as well as story creation around these places.
