Romain is your average 1990s teenager: a rebellious 18-year-old sociology student. While his best friend chooses a life of underground activism, he decides to become a porn star to satisfy his desires to provoke and to break free. Here, Ovidie – a researcher and porn industry insider who has made the trade her playground, area of study and creative field – builds on the themes broached by her short film Ordinary Day. If it's sex scenes you're looking for, you'll be disappointed. By turning clichés on their heads and reversing male-female stereotypes, she confronts viewers with their own prejudices before breaking them down mischievously. We are given a chance to learn a new way of thinking beyond established gender norms, whether in movies or in life.
