THE GIFF SCHOOL FESTIVAL

For its 28th edition, the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF) returns with new proposals designed for school children. Since 1995, the Festival has presented the public with stories in multiple formats. Whether in the form of series, films or, more recently, immersive works in virtual, mixed or augmented reality (XR), the GIFF programme seeks to explore the infinite territories of digital technology. The Festival thus invites its audience to experiment with digital works designed to renew our view of cinema and new technologies.

Each year, the GIFF offers workshops in classes and programmatic initiatives in favour of image education or digital creation awareness. The Festival thus proposes to broaden our perspectives thanks to digital technology, while providing adequate tools to exercise a critical and constructive look at the media.Registration for school programmes for the 2022 edition is open! You will find all the proposals in the Secondary I and the Secondary 2 files.

CLASSROOM WORKSHOPS “ARE WE ALL STARS?

With the advent of the internet, social networks, wireless connectivity, streaming, mobile phones, media opportunities are becoming more and more numerous and inescapable. From the ubiquity of celebrities, self-branding to the immediate online representation of self and others, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between all this information halfway between reality and fiction and to understand their constructions. When we use social networks to ‘share’ pieces of our lives, who is watching? For what reasons? Does this make us the stars of a reality TV episode?
