A young man travels to Syria to join a humanitarian organization. Enlisted by the Islamic State against his will, he is forced to produce propaganda videos. A musical tragedy that defies categorization.

Written with an eye on current affairs over several years, and before the 13th November attacks in Paris and Brussels in 2016, the Belgian filmmakers were motivated primarily by the clear need to tell the story of something close and personal. From one-off events, a descent into hell arranged in poems, this hybrid musical tragedy, sometimes told through dance, is part immersive war film, part family drama. A reflection on the question of radicalization, indoctrination, use of the image and its power as a weapon wielded as never before by ISIS. A modern version of The Thousand and One Nights filmed with hand-held cameras, takes the form of a courageous, striking and spectacular critique.
