A documentary triptych that invites us into the homes of the most fervent devotees of Second Life, where the protagonists lead their dream lives, far from societal norms but bound by their own rules.
In 2009, just as Second Life saw a peak in user concurrency with 88,200 concurrent users, a duo of filmmakers made a documentary focusing on three examples of engaging with this controversial virtual world. Reserve is the watchword of this production, which respectfully follows its protagonists as they swap their real loneliness and inadequacy for intense involvement in virtual communities. Religion, the furry fandom and kinks all provide opportunities for escaping everyday reality and creating a mirror world that reflects their desires, dreams and obsessions.
