GIFF UNLIMITED @SWISS DIGITAL DAYS
To coincide with the Swiss Digital Days, and in partnership with digitalswitzerland, the GIFF will open the doors of its VR museum on the Plaine de Plainpalais in Geneva for one day only (11:00 – 19:00). This rich, family-friendly program explores the history of art and its iconic paintings through the prism of virtual reality. This free event will allow the public to re-explore these culturally significant works in a fun and intuitive way.
LES NOCES DE CANA DE PAUL VÉRONÈSE
JOSÉPHINE DEROBE AND CARLOS FRANKLIN / FR / 2018 / 8′ / ANIMATION / FRENCH
Paul Veronese leads us to the sumptuous scene of the Wedding at Cana. He tells us the biblical story of the first miracle of Christ and takes us into a festive and unbridled Venetian setting.
LES RÊVES DU DOUANIER ROUSSEAU
NICOLAS AUTHEMAN / 2019 / FRANCE / 7’ / ANIMATION / VO. FR
A late afternoon at the Jardin des Plantes. What if we had stayed locked up in the big greenhouse? And if, slowly, creatures and plants from the Douanier Rousseau’s paintings were taking shape around us. A virtual walk in the form of a daydream, a waking dream.
CARAVAGGIO IN TENEBRIS
MATTHIEU VAN EECKHOUT / 2019 / FRANCE / 8’ / ANIMATION / NO DIALOGUE
Caravaggio, the most exciting, the most contested, the most turbulent painter of the Renaissance. Rather than approaching the work academically, the authors of this immersive homage have chosen to create a whirlwind of crazy, “Caravaggio-like” images in which to dive in and lose oneself.
SATURNISM
MIHAI GRECU / 2020 / FRANCE / 4’ / HORROR / NO DIALOGUE
Saturn devouring his child remains without doubt Goya’s most emblematic work. It is also one of the darkest paintings in the history of art, painted by the artist on the walls of his home. It comes to life here, in this magnificent immersive reinterpretation of the myth of Cronos.
