The Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF) unveils the first titles of its 32nd edition, taking place from October 30 to November 8, 2026. True to its mission of exploring audiovisual creation in all its forms, the Festival notably announces a special focus on screenwriter Fanny Herrero, a leading figure in French series creation (Call My Agent!), several titles from the Highlights section, including Jordan Firstman’s Club Kid, Kore-eda Hirokazu’s new film Look Back and a new immersive experience by digital artist Mélanie Courtinat. This year, GIFF’s Pop TV section is dedicated to music videos through two programmes: a focus curated with Flux Laboratory spotlighting three leading choreographers, Damien Jalet, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Marion Motin, and a second focus celebrating Swiss creation in collaboration with the Tourne-Films Festival Lausanne (TFFL). These first reveals set the tone for a 32nd edition that reaffirms GIFF as a space for (re)discovery, bringing together established figures and new voices across formats.

FANNY HERRERO, CREATOR OF CALL MY AGENT! AND STANDING UP AT GIFF!

This year, GIFF honours one of the greatest French screenwriters of her generation: Fanny Herrero. A renowned creator of the series Call My Agent! and Standing Up, she has been writing for hit television series since the 2000s. A two-time winner of the Globe de Cristal for Best TV Movie/TV Series, Fanny Herrero skilfully blends humour and humanity in her writing. A leading figure in the French television landscape, she also stands out for creating brilliant and original female protagonists. As part of this special spotlight on Fanny Herrero, GIFF will present her most notable works: episodes from the series Call My Agent! and Standing Up, as well as Call My Agent! The Movie, the long-awaited sequel to the series of the same name. She will also participate in a moderated conference.

POP TV: A NEW GOLDEN AGE OF MUSIC VIDEOS?

On December 31, 2025, MTV permanently stopped airing music videos in Europe. Have platforms like YouTube, TikTok, or Spotify killed the television broadcast of music videos, and perhaps the music video itself? Recent sucess prove otherwise: Storm by Gener8ion, directed by Romain Gavras and choreographed by Damien Jalet, has racked up nearly 20 million views on YouTube. The music video has simply moved to a different screen.

This year, GIFF dedicates its Pop TV programme to exploring this iconic format, through two exceptional collaborations.

Flux Laboratory

The music video is inseparable from dance, yet those who choreograph it are too often overlooked. This focus finally gives credit to three of these artists, Damien Jalet, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Marion Motin, who have notably collaborated with Madonna, Gener8ion, Elton John and Tamino.
GIFF will have the pleasure of welcoming several of these choreographers to Geneva for special encounters centred on their work.
