29th GIFF: A Poster Shining in Gold

For the third year in a row, Swiss artist Benjamin Muzzin has designed the poster for the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF), subtly blending heritage from the past with visions of the future—an approach that lies at the heart of the event’s identity.

“For this 2023 edition, the GIFF logo is once again placed at the center of the visual, around which the poster’s narrative unfolds. The fluid shapes and textures evoke the many narrative genres featured at the festival, harmoniously merging with new technologies. The golden and bronze hues echo the rich and ancient history of cinema, positioning GIFF at the crossroads of genres and image technologies. The logo, subtly transparent, appears like a cinematic window opening onto new worlds.”
– Benjamin Muzzin

The poster for the 29th edition pays tribute to the Festival’s convergent programming—the essence of GIFF—which will bring together cinema, series, and virtual territories this coming November. At a time when the boundaries of image technologies are being pushed further every day, the visual evokes the iconic Reflets d’Or (Golden Reflections), the namesake awards of the Festival’s three historic international competitions.

This new visual identity also reflects the positioning of its market, the Geneva Digital Market, which offers a unique showcase in Switzerland for the diversity of technologies and their experimental potential. Dive into a powerful and elegant graphic cosmos, inviting the audience to step out of the everyday and embark on a unique journey at the intersection of genres and disciplines.
