Having already tackled the various political tensions shaking contemporary France in his previous works, director and screenwriter Thierry de Peretti, back in his native Corsica, continues his analysis with this adaptation of Jérôme Ferrari's eponymous novel. At once an evocation of the exaltation of Corsican nationalism from the 1980s to the 2000s and the story of Antonia's life – a photographer whose career led her to war reporting – the feature film skillfully parallels the island's political ferment with the professional and personal evolution of a committed woman. A poignant reconstruction of a troubled period, carried by the talented Clara-Maria Laredo, a young actress with a promising future.
