An iconic filmmaker known for his characters who are at odds with their surroundings, American director Jim Jarmusch turns his attention this time to family life and intergenerational relationships in a three-part film featuring a five-star cast, marking his return to the sketch film format. A brother and sister (Adam Driver and Mayim Bialik) visit their eccentric father (Tom Waits); a writer (Charlotte Rampling) welcomes her daughters (Cate Blanchett and Vicky Krieps) for tea in Dublin; two fraternal twins (Indya Moore and Luka Sabbat) return to their recently deceased parents' Paris apartment. Three stories with delicate humor, tinged with a gentle melancholy that only Jarmusch knows how to convey, about the unspoken words between close relatives and their inevitable bond, for a film that won the Golden Lion at the 82nd Venice Film Festival.
