Follow The Carnation is a VR essay film highlighting democracy's fragility. It begins in mixed reality (MR) with a dialogue on the Carnation Revolution, leading users through a red spiral labyrinth. Historical and contemporary figures share stories about democracy in Portugal, reinterpreting archives, showcasing voices of resistance and resilience.

Catarina de Sousa
Catarina de Sousa is a director and producer. Together with Isadora N. Marques, she founded the Porto-based production company Foi Bonita a Festa. She is the founder of Casa do Xisto, an artistic residency dedicated to cinema and the visual arts in Portugal. She co-directed Tracing Utopia, which had its World Premiere at IFFR. She also produced "Becoming Male in The Middle Ages" and "Vampires in Space".

Lui Avallos
Director, actor and VR creator Lui Avallos was born in Brazil in 1992 and graduated in Image and Sound from the University of São Carlos. In 2020, his short film Offline was selected for various festivals. He makes Handwritten, in VR, to explore the concept of “Virtual Reality Essay Film”. He is a finalist in the Biennale College Cinema VR 2022 with Queer Utopia. He is preparing a doctorate on avant-garde cinema and VR.
