Entrusted for the third consecutive year to graphic designer Laura Cocchi, the design of the poster for this 26th festival features the GIFF logo in a bath of tangy smoke. Through this poster, the GIFF pays tribute to a certain transgressive spirit of the 1990s with deliberately trashy and contrasted graphics, like a candy-pink explosion on a uniformly black background. We also find elements of the year we’ve been going through: grey areas, an ocean of uncertainty but also the idea that in times of crisis, culture remains an act of resistance and creativity.
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS FOR FEATURE FILMS, TV SERIES AND IMMERSIVE WORKS
Following the cancellation of the Festival, the Reflets d’Or for the best feature film, the best TV series and the best immersive work, each worth 10,000 CHF and donated by Ville de Genève and la République et canton de Genève, have been redistributed equally among the 30 competing titles.
EUROPEAN SCRIPT AWARD
The jury unanimously awarded the European Script Award to We Got This, a series co-written and performed by Schiaffino Musarra. Endowed with 10’000 EUR and awarded by the European Alliance for Television and Culture (EATC), the European Script Award was presented to GIFF for the first time this year. Despite the cancellation of the 26th edition, the jury, composed of Nicolas Dufour (CH), Elena Hazanov (RU-CH) and Raphaël Nieuwjaer (FR), deliberated online to determine the winner of the prize among three pre-selected series : We Got This, Grow, Hide and Seek.
